Sadly, there’s now one less Dodge Demon in the world.
The , but now there’s one less example in the world, sadly, because one of them recently burnt to a crisp. Surprisingly, the car didn’t come to a fiery end after being pushed to the limit the drag strip or a race track, but on the median of a public highway. Luckily, there were no injuries, so the situation could have been a lot worse.
According to Instagram user , which uploaded a video that was reportedly recorded by the emergency services, the fireball was caused by an exploding transmission, causing fluids to leak onto the hot exhaust components. Nothing has been officially confirmed, however, as the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Photos posted by Instagram user show the burnt out remains of the Demon, which was “cooked like a well-done steak.” The front section is completely charred, but the fire didn’t engulf the entire car. Looking at the photos, the drag-spec front tires and a nearby Z06 Corvette suggest the driver wasn’t taking the 840-hp muscle car on a leisurely cruise.
While it hasn’t been confirmed how fast the Demon was being driven, a report by claims the Demon was modified and was traveling at 170 mph when the fire started, although the extent of the modifications is unknown. The publication allegedly received this information from a direct message sent by gtfivehunnit on Instagram. If this is true, the consequences could have been a lot worse.
