Watch Out Porsche: The 2018 Rezvani Beast Alpha Will Cost Under $100K

California-based carmaker Rezvani is unleashing an affordable “Porsche killer” this summer. We're very intrigued.

With its supercar styling, lightweight carbon fiber body, and a modified Acura engine producing 500-horsepower, the Rezvani Beast Alpha sports car is an . When it was revealed last year, the 2017 model would set you back just under $200,000. More recently, the small California-based carmaker slashed the price of the Beast Alpha down to just $149,000. And now it’s getting an even more affordable successor, as Rezvani has revealed that the 2018 Beast Alpha will cost less than $100,000.

Not only does that make it the most affordable sports car yet in its line-up, but CEO Ferris Rezvani describes the 2018 Rezvani Beast Alpha as a “Porsche killer, but with even more focus on the enthusiast.” This is a man who doesn’t mince his words. "We founded Rezvani Motors two years ago with the mission to create a sports car that would be lighter, faster, and better handling than anything in its class, but priced at under $100,000," he said. "I am very proud to say that we will be unveiling such a car in the second quarter of 2017.” The new model will have distinctive features tailored to a more mainstream customer, while retaining the race-car performance and exotic styling that makes the current car so appealing.

Providing it still has the , we’re already sold. No specifications have been revealed yet, but it’s safe to say the new model has a lot to live up to. Thanks to its aluminum frame and carbon fiber body, the current Beast Alpha weighs just 1,950 pounds. It’s fitted with a turbocharged 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine that produces 500 horsepower - an insane amount for a sports car that weighs nearly 400 pounds less than a Mazda MX-5 Miata. 0-60 mph takes just 3.2 seconds and the Beast Alpha will hit a top speed of 175 mph, providing you equip it with the optional sequential automatic transmission.

Opt for the standard six-speed manual, and you can add 0.3 seconds to the sprint time, which is still by no means slow. Now you know why it’s called the Beast. Rezvani is currently taking reservations for the 2018 Beast Alpha, which requires a refundable $1,000 deposit. This could be one to watch when it’s revealed in the summer. We're very intrigued about this potential "Porsche killer."
