No, your eyes don’t deceive you. That is a Nissan Rogue with tracks instead of wheels.
It was inevitable that Nissan would use its popular Rogue crossover as a , though the included extras that only hardcore Star Wars collectors could appreciate. Essentially, it was a standard Rogue with Star Wars-branded stickers and badges, with a replica Death Trooper helmet thrown in to keep fans happy. But Nissan didn’t stop there. At the Chicago Auto Show, the automaker continued to capitalize on the movie.
On display at the show was a one-off X-Wing-themed Rogue complete with mounted guns and wings. For the New York Auto Show this week, Nissan is upping the ante even further. Rogue One was recently released on DVD and blu-ray, so both the limited-edition Rogue One and X-Wing-themed Rogue SUV will predictably be on display on a special stand alongside a huge inflatable Death Star. Continuing the Star Wars theme, an additional Rogue will be on show with a paint scheme inspired by the flight suits of X-Wing pilots. What we didn’t predict, however, is that Nissan would reveal yet another one-off Rogue that’s even more outlandish than the X-Wing-inspired SUV.
Presenting the Nissan Rogue Warrior Trail Project, which trades wheels and tires for a set of Dominator tracks capable of tackling any terrain you could possibly throw at it. Measuring at 48 inches long, 30 inches high and 15 inches wide, installing the tracks required modifications to the suspension and wheel wells. Apart from that, the drivetrain components are standard factory issue. You also still get the same 2.5-liter engine that produces 170-horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque as the standard Rogue. Completing the Nissan Rogue Warrior Trail Project is a custom camouflage body wrap and military-style yellow glassworks.
It also comes with features you wouldn't expect to find on a standard equipment list for a Nissan Rogue, including tinted headlights, custom fender flares, ARB Gear Basket, LED lights and a Warn 4K winch. It may seem like a cynical cash-in, but the Star Wars marketing campaign seems to have helped raise awareness of the Nissan Rogue, as sales are up by 50 percent this year.
