Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus has a goal to produce street-legal supercars that are also built to handle racing. The best of both worlds, if you will. And now SCG, founded by James Glickenhaus, has revealed the first details and rendered images of the mid-engined SCG 004s, a twin-turbo 5.0-liter supercar with 650 hp and 531 lb-ft of torque. Oh, and you can also order one with a gated six-speed manual. Got your attention now? With a claimed weight of around 2,600 lbs., SCG is now accepting deposits of $40,000 for the $400,000 base price 004S.
Aside from the gated six-speed, buyers can instead opt for a paddle shift. Like the McLaren F1, the driver is stationed in the center, with two passenger seats on either side. The exterior styling of the 004 is similar to the , but not identical. We particularly like the 004’s flying buttresses similar to those found on the Ford GT. The overall exterior design is sleek and looks fast even at a standstill; it looks like something made for the track. And yes, the 004 will be built alongside the 003 in the US. Unlike seeking the assistance from Italy’s Manifattura Automobili Torino for the 003, the new 004 was fully developed in the US.
And yes, there will be an eventual racing version of the 004, only the ’S’ will be dropped for a “C”. Also expect to see the 004 available as a GT3 and GTE/GTLM race car by 2021, at which time SCG hopes to have reached a production volume of up to 250 units. SCG says it plans to have the first 004 prototype up and running in mid-2018, and 18 months from now the first 25 “Founders’ Edition” road cars will be set for delivery.
