Hopefully this means BMW is almost ready to reveal the Z4's replacement.
We have known for a while now that the current BMW Z4 . We also knew that BMW's next generation roadster and would likely be called the Z5. While BMW's version of the car will be the next Z car, Toyota's version will become the . Even though the current Z4 was already long in the tooth, BMW continued to sell it. Until now, that is. According to , the final E89 Z4 rolled off the production line earlier this month.
BMW reportedly sold more than 115,000 examples of the E89 Z4. The last Z4 is a Valencia Orange sDrive35is, so production definitely ended on a good note. With a 340 horsepower turbocharged inline six, the sDrive35is was the most powerful variant. This car will also be the last BMW ever with the N54 engine, which was replaced a while ago by the N55, then replaced again by the brand-new B58. For the time being, BMW no longer builds a two-seat convertible, and that doesn't seem to worry the company. A replacement will hopefully be available by 2018, but for now, you'll have to turn to Mercedes or Audi if you want a German luxury two-seat convertible.
