Let this be a message to all of the slowpokes out there.
Even though it is arguably just as , no one ever seems to get pulled over for driving slowly in the left lane. Highways in the United States are full of in the left lane driving slower than the flow of traffic, thus creating a line of cars behind them. Even though left lane hogging has been made , we rarely see the law enforced, until now. A police sergeant in Indiana just became an internet sensation after finally pulling someone over for left lane hogging.
Sergeant Stephen Wheeles tweeted out "I stopped this vehicle today for a left lane violation on I-65. The driver had approximately 20 cars slowed behind her because she would not move back to the right lane. Again...if there are vehicles behind you, you must move to the right lane to allow them to pass." He went on to tweet that "Since the current 'Left Lane Law' went into effect in 2015, Indiana State Troopers have issued 4,688 warnings and 331 citations for violations of the law." Thanks to his actions, Wheeles has become a bit of an internet sensation and hero among car enthusiasts who would like to see this law enforced more strictly.
The original tweet has since gone viral and even celebrities such as former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman have reached out to congratulate Wheeles. In respone, Wheeles tweeted "Wow ... I am overwhelmed. You all are amazing! Just trying to do my part to make the roadways safer for the traveling public." We here at Cartownhack commend sergeant Wheeles and hope that his work rubs off on other officers, who should focus less on drivers going 5 mph over the speed limit, and more on those going 10 mph under the speed limit in the left lane.
