Rare, Beautiful Iso Grifo A3/C Stradale By Bizzarrini Heading To Auction In February

Classic Cars

The riveted body is a rare example of a rare car.

Those with an interest in classic Italian sports cars, have quite possibly heard of Giotto Bizzarrini. He is the man primarily responsible for the Ferrari 250 GTO, and following the success of this project, he teamed up with a man named Renzo Rivolta. Rivolta owned a small car company called Iso which made very (hilariously) small cars, but Rivolta was looking to change tactics and build an Italian GT car which was actually reliable.

To that end, the Iso Grifo was built (following a 2+2 version called the Rivolta), using Italian styling and a 327 V8 out of a Chevrolet Corvette. It was good business sense, and a lovely car, but it would ultimately be killed off by the energy crisis after just 412 were produced. The car you see here is expected to be auctioned off for between 1 million and 1.5 million Euros. The 1965 model is an early rivet-body example, painted in the desirable “Green Apple” original color, although it was restored in 2010.
