It's now officially official.

Only a few months after its , Audi has officially confirmed that a production version of its e-tron Sportback will arrive for 2019. Up until now, we only , but in an official press release, the German automaker stated the all-electric SUV will be assembled at its Brussels, Belgium, facility beginning sometime next year. In other words, Audi is gearing up to go head-to-head against the also . Both are electric SUVs with sporty styling and high-performance capabilities to boot.

For its part, Audi says the e-tron Sportback concept’s 320 kW electric motor will serve as the basis for the production version. The concept produces a total of 429 hp from its electric drivetrain, with two motors in the rear and just one in front. With a claimed range of 310 miles (the concept, at least), the e-tron Sportback will serve as the second Audi e-tron, the first being the A3 Sportback e-tron, which is for sale in the US. As for the e-tron Sportback’s final design, we suspect it won’t greatly differ from that of the concept. Can’t say it’s the best-looking design we’ve seen, but we still prefer the look of the Q8 concepts from earlier this year. Hopefully a Q8 e-tron is also in the pipeline.
