While we wait for the inevitable hardcore variant of the wonderful BMW M2 (), arguably , a new US-bound limited edition model is apparently on the cards. reports that a listing for a ‘2017 BMW M2 M Performance Edition’ has been spotted on the ordering system at US BMW dealerships limited to just 150 units and starting at $61,695.
Sadly, the 2017 BMW M2 M Performance Edition won’t be getting any performance upgrades over the standard car, but will contain a slew of modifications and cosmetic changes sourced from the M Performance Parts catalog, including black kidney grilles, black side gills, an M Performance exhaust system with titanium tips, M Performance coilover suspension, M Performance illuminated door sill, and LED door projectors displaying “Performance Edition,” just to remind you that your M2 is a special limited edition.
Inside the cabin, the Performance Edition is fitted with adjustable sport seats, basic keyless entry, single-zone automatic climate control, a hi-fi audio system and black mirror caps. Each model will be painted in Alpine White, and will be equipped with the M Driver’s Package, bringing the top speed to 168 mph. A manual or dual clutch transmission will be available. This could well be a precursor to the , which is expected to sport a similar design to the M4 CS, with bigger brakes and a beefier engine boosted to over 400 horsepower.
