Just a few weeks ago, Lamborghini , but it’s only a matter of time before a topless variant arrives to replace the current . Lamborghini is already testing the improved Huracan Evo Spyder, as a video posted on YouTube shows a camouflaged prototype of the convertible supercar driving on the I-75 highway in the US.
It’s easy to tell we’re looking at the Huracan Evo Spyder since the rear end has the same styling modifications as its coupe counterpart such as an aggressive new rear diffuser, a raised lip spoiler in the center of the decklid, and repositioned twin exhaust tips.
The front bumper features larger air intakes and splitter with an aero-enhancing built-in wing. In the coupe, these styling changes have improved the downforce and aerodynamic efficiency more than five times over the first generation Huracan.
The Huracan debuted at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, but we had to wait another 18 months before the Spyder was shown at Geneva last year. It seems too soon for the Huracan Evo to drop its top at this year’s Geneva Motor Show in March, so we suspect it will debut at Frankfurt in September at the earliest, or possibly in 2020.
Like the fixed-roof version, the Huracan Evo Spyder will be powered by a naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 that delivers 631 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque. It will also get four-wheel steering, four-wheel torque vectoring, and a new Vehicle Dynamics Control System.
