One thing he told us will be over-the-air updates, similar to what Tesla does with its cars. “Tesla very much shows the way. Over the air updates are very much in our platform, von Koenigsegg said. “For a small company like ours, when we have software upgrades, it’s so much easier to send them out instead of flying around the world and installing physically. It’s a huge cost saving. It’s a no-brainer. I think we can activate that (over-the-air updates) on the Regera maybe this summer. We have a team working on that.” Already Regera owners have a solid amount of connectivity options. For example, they can pre-cool and pre-heat it, lower the windows, honk the horn, and flash the lights.
There’s also a warning if the battery is getting low after, say, parking it for a few months. “We can monitor every system of the car to make sure things are running smoothly, but owners need to have mobile connectivity or be in a WiFi area.” But the upcoming over-the-air updates are a big deal in saving both time and money. Most importantly, owners benefit the most from this. “We are one of the first in the industry to adopt this technology,” von Koenigsegg said with a very satisfied look on his face.
