Jeep Is Getting Rid Of One Of The Wrangler's Best Features?

Rumor

We figured this might happen.

It’s set to debut sometime in 2017, most likely at the Detroit Auto Show. The next generation Jeep Wrangler is , and we’ve been learning a few details about it, such as greater use of lightweight aluminum, a possible nine-speed transmission option, and that , as opposed to an independent suspension. That’s the good news, but according to Allpar.com, there may be for Wrangler purists.

In an effort to further keep the poundage off and improve safety, Jeep will not only ditch the folding windshield with a fixed unit (we previously assumed this would happen), but that it’ll also ditch the soft top entirely. Allpar’s inside source made it crystal clear: "The traditional soft top is gone." More specifically, "it appears to have removable soft panels over the substructure. The sport bar design is gone. It even appears to have built-in grab handles." Fortunately, the removable doors will remain as well as the overall bumper setup, a good thing for those planning to add any sort of aftermarket component.
