Looks like Jag will add another SUV to the lineup.
Jaguar was a bit late to the SUV game, but after hitting a sales home run with the F-Pace, the carmaker was quick to introduce the smaller E-Pace - and it looks like Jaguar's SUV lineup won't stop there. reports that Jaguar has filed to reserve the name 'C-Pace' with the European Intellectual Property Office. What's most intriguing about this filing is that Jaguar chose to file the trademark under multiple classifications.
One classification in particular, Nice Classification 9, is typically used for systems related to autonomous driving. This may imply that the C-Pace could utilize self-driving features. Nothing else about the trademark is known, so we are left to speculate what the C-Pace could be. Based on the name alone, the C-Pace could be a sub-compact SUV below the E-Pace, which would compete against models like the Audi Q2. Another option is a SUV-coupe model, which would use the E-Pace or F-Pace platform with a more coupe-like body style on it - like the BMW X4 and X6.
We'll have to wait for an official announcement from Jaguar to be sure, but we wouldn't rule out a smaller SUV model below the E-Pace. The trademark filing was made in Europe, where a small SUV would be welcomed. The E-Pace is already as small as we'd expect a luxury SUV to be for the US market, so the C-Pace may end being a Europe-only model.
