This could be the next best thing to a new Lexus LFA.
There’s a lot to like about the Lexus LC. It looks stunning and has 471 horsepower on tap thanks to the naturally-aspirated V8 under the hood. While the gorgeous grand-tourer may represent the halo car of the Lexus range, it’s not a supercar in the same league as the beloved LFA – at least not yet. Rumors of a have been circulating for a long time now, but Lexus hasn’t officially announced its existence. However, claims to have obtained the first spy shots of a Lexus LC F prototype.
Spotted by a reader in a California parking lot, the prototype test car features updated front vents flanking the spindle grille, as well as reworked side skirts and a deeper rear bumper. This is by no means confirmation that we’re looking at the new LC F, though. Another possibility is that the test car could be a new F Sport model with sportier trim but no mechanical updates. If, however, we are looking at a prototype Lexus LC F, it could be packing a newly developed 4.0-liter V8 rated at 621 horsepower . The current Lexus LC 500 can sprint from 0-62 mph in 4.4 seconds and top out at 168 mph.
With more power and less weight, the LC F could potentially be capable of delivering a sub-four second sprint time and a top speed approaching 200 mph. The LC F will also allegedly be much lighter than the current car too, thanks to the use of carbon-fiber reinforced plastic. A weight reduction would certainly be welcome, since the current LC 500 weighs a hefty 4,280 pounds. Prices are rumored to start at around $176,000. Lexus , but the LC F could be the next best thing. Hopefully there will be an official announcement sooner, rather than later.
