The King, The Beetles and Old Blue Eyes all drove cool cars, some of which are going up for auction next month.
It appears is just one of a fleet of celebrity cars that are to cross Mecum’s auction block next month. The auction house is preparing to roll out the red carpet for its Celebrity Items Auction in Santa Monica, CA, and as well as the King of Cool’s pick up (and 1931 Harley Davidson), Elvis Presley’s 1972 Cadillac Custom Estate Wagon will also be up for sale. The King of Rock's custom wagon was created from a Sedan Deville using GM’s station wagon parts bin and features a clamshell two-piece tailgate and forward-facing third row.
Other celebrity rides include Frank Sinatra’s 1989 Jaguar XJS, Ringo Starr’s Chevy Coupe custom built by George Barris, and Bette Davis’ 1980 Ford Mustang. The auction also features four wheelers that co starred on the big and little screen. The 1973 Chevy El Camino from My Name is Earl, the Flinstone Family Car from 1994 flick The Flinstones, and arguably best of all Black Beauty, the 1965 Crown Imperial driven by legendary Asian and Caucasian ass kicker, Bruce Lee in the Hornet television series. The Mecum Celebrity Items Auction will take place at the Barker Hangar on July 26-27.
