Your guess is as good as ours.
Swiss watchmaker Hublot unveiled its new MP-05 Sapphire Watch. It's essentially a more exclusive version of the MP-05 watch, but you knew that. The Sapphire variant features a casing carved out of seven blocks of Sapphire and takes upwards of 600 hours to produce. The Sapphire was designed over a period of 18 months and features 637 bespoke pieces including a tourbillion that provides a 50 day power reserve. A miniaturized power drill similar to the ones used by F1 pit crews is used to wind the watch.
Only 20 units of the watch are being produced at a price-tag of more than $300,000 each. The strap is made from transparent silicon with a clasp fashioned from machined sapphire. Design inspiration is clearly reminiscent of a Ferrari engine with noticeable homages to camshafts, valve-springs, and the crankshaft. For that same price you could purchase a California T for $198,000, an FF at $295,000 or a 488 GTB for $250,000+.
