The wait is nearly over.
After an agonizingly long wait, we were expecting Toyota to finally lift the covers off the new reborn Supra at Geneva this week. Sadly, we won’t be seeing the road-going model. Instead, Toyota will be , while reports suggest the road car will break cover at the New York Auto Show in April. As preparations for this year’s Geneva Motor Show are currently underway, a new video has emerged showing the Supra concept being moved onto the show floor getting ready for its big debut on Tuesday.
Most of the car is covered by a sheet, but we can see it sports a Gazzo racing livery, center-lock wheels wrapped in sticky Michelin slick tires, a carbon fiber front lip spoiler, and a massive rear spoiler. Looking at the front fascia and the overall shape, it certainly seems that were published in a Japanese magazine.
We’ve heard rumors the reborn Supra will be launched under the Gazoo brand, which would make sense if this is previewing a future race car Toyota is planning to enter in the GTE series. This is further backed up by the location of the display stand positioning the concept next to a Toyota Gazoo Racing Hilux. We’ll find out more information Tuesday when the Geneva Motor Show opens its doors to media. As for the road car, the Supra is being co-developed with BMW and will be based on the same platform as the new Z4 roadster. Reports suggest the rear-wheel drive sports car will be powered by a 3.0-liter turbo inline-six delivering 335 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque paired with an eight-speed automatic.
