Hennessey-Tuned Ranger Is The Raptor Ford Won't Build

The first details of the upgrade packages have arrived.

You can buy a new this instant – if you live in Australia or any other overseas market where it’s sold. Here in the US, however, it , at least for the current generation Ranger. Of course but not everyone is willing to wait to see whether or not that’ll happen. Fortunately, Hennessey Performance is now offering an immediate solution.

The Texas-based tuner has just released the first specs (unfortunately no pictures for now but we included images of the overseas Ranger Raptor) of its 2019 Ranger upgrade program and it doesn’t disappoint. The tuning package ups the 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder from a stock 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque to 300 hp and 375 lb-ft.

This is accomplished with a high-flow induction system, stainless steel cat-back exhaust, and an engine management software upgrade. But clearly that’s not enough for off-road enthusiasts, hence Hennessey’s also-new off-road upgrade package.

This includes VelociRaptor-style front and rear bumpers, the former with five LED lights, 18-inch 10-spoke wheels wearing 33-inch Toyo off-road tires, bolt-on off-road fender flares, a front suspension leveling kit, and exterior emblems indicating its Hennessey and Velociraptor credentials. Pricing has not been released but both packages come with a 3 year/36,000 mile limited warranty.

Based on Hennessey’s work modifying the F-150 Raptor (pictured below) and its enhanced appearance, we have a pretty good idea what the Ranger Raptor will look like. Hennessey also released a video showing baseline chassis dyno testing of a stock Ranger Lariat producing 243 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels, which is less powerful than Ford’s figures. Fortunately, Hennessey is here to fix that and more. We'll keep you posted once official photos arrive and, hopefully, an off-road demonstration. It's time for Ford to see the off-road-focused mid-size truck it's denying to America.
