We , and now Fisker has revealed the much-anticipated production version of its luxurious EMotion electric sedan at CES to take on the Tesla Model S. The first car from Henrik Fisker’s new company Fisker Inc, the EMotion is an elegant mid-sized electric sedan with a striking design, all-wheel drive and an all-electric range that sets a new benchmark for sedans. Currently, the Model S P100D has a leading electric range of 335 miles, but Fisker claims the EMotion will beat its competitor with a range of over 400 miles.
Unlike Fisker’s last electric car, the , the EMotion doesn’t rely on a range-extender. Instead, the electric sedan's impressive range is achieved via a lithium-ion battery sourced by leading battery supplier LG Chem. Fisker is also working on more advanced solid-state batteries as part of a partnership with US company Solid Power that could potentially increase the range to 500 miles and result in charge times as low as one minute. Fisker claims its solid-state batteries are the densest in the world and are less prone to overheating, with 2.5 times the energy density of a similar sized lithium-ion battery.
Performance-wise, multiple electric motors send 780 hp to all four wheels, allowing the EMotion to sprint from 0-62 in under three seconds and reach a top speed of 161 mph. A carbon fiber and aluminium structure should also make it lighter than its chief competitor, too. Level 4 autonomy is achieved by multiple LIDAR sensors throughout the body, ultrasonic sensors and cameras. According to Fisker, the EMotion’s software senses and perceives surroundings to detect and classify objects in real-time. The EMotion rides on 24-inch carbon wheels and features the world’s first Butterfly Doors with an alluring design allowing easy access to the elegant EV.
Each door is equipped with touch sensitive sensors to monitor the proximity of surroundings and is operating through a smartphone. Inside, the Fisker EMotion’s opulent interior looks as spacious as a Mercedes S-Class and can be specified with four or five electrically adjustable seats with premium quality leather. A vegan option will also be available. Three screens stream information to the driver, including a curved infotainment screen above the dashboard, an iPad-like device in the central dashboard, and one that replaces traditional dials. A 27-inch curved screen can also be added to the rear in the upcoming Chauffeur Edition.

Fisker will build the EMotion in the US, though the location won’t be announced until the second-half of 2018, with prices starting at $129,900 when it launches before the end of 2019. Interested buyers can place a reservation with a $2,000 deposit.
