Unless this was an FCA-sanctioned "leak," this test driver is getting fired.
Kyle, the guy behind the YouTube account , is a very lucky boy. Not only does he lay claim to a 707 horsepower Dodge Charger Hellcat, but for whatever reason, he happened to stumble upon an FCA employee test driving a . Yep, that’s the same drag strip-ready Jeep we were waiting for that has its 3.5-second 0-60 mph time enabled by having the Hellcat twins’ 707 horsepower supercharged V8 stuffed under its hood.
Giving more reason for a good bout of head scratching is the fact that this FCA employee let him get behind the wheel and drive the damned thing. Before we get to that, the most bewildering aspect about the video must be addressed: the fact that this Trackhawk is a right-hand version.
FCA hadn’t confirmed whether or not it was bringing the Trackhawk to foreign markets—though it does sell the Grand Cherokee SRT abroad, so there’s that—but this confirms it. If we needed any proof to the Trackhawk’s credibility, we can see the same inconspicuous front end design, Trackhawk embroidery on the front seats, the familiar supercharged 6.2-liter V8 under the hood, and its mind-bending acceleration runs. Kyle opens it up a bit and before you say anything about his shifting, keep in mind that this is a preproduction unit. Kyle also mentions that there’s an ample amount of torque steer, but what do you expect with so much power going to all four wheels?
One thing we want to know is whether or not this episode was planned. Given the genius marketing Dodge used prior to the Challenger SRT Demon’s reveal, we wouldn’t put it past FCA to “accidentally” let one of its test drivers hand the keys to an interested kid who just so happens to have a dedicated automotive YouTube Channel with 14k subscribers and an to match with 138k followers. A hypothetical hybrid of Bill Gates and Lewis Hamilton could be standing on the side of the road with all the money and skill in the world and a test driver still wouldn't hand them the keys. But somehow this video still exists. Enjoy!
