What will the mystery model be?
Later this year, Bentley will celebrate its 100th anniversary with a special edition model. This car will be inspired by one of the company's iconic racing models and make its debut on March 3 at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.
Bentley released a statement saying, "In 1919 Walter Owen (W.O.) Bentley created a company with a simple objective: to build 'a fast car, a good car, the best in its class'. This guiding principle has driven Bentley ever since, pushing the brand forward and making it the leader in automotive luxury around the world today. The 10th of July 2019 marks Bentley’s 100th year and this extraordinary milestone, reached by only a special few companies, will be a cause for celebration of the company’s history, its global success today and its exciting future."
Commemorative statement aside, we were only given a single teaser of the car from which to draw any speculation. Within the Bentley emblem, we can clearly see the years '1919' and '2019' commemorating the year of the company's founding and its 100th anniversary. We also notice a unique white pattern in the grille, which may end up forming a letter or number. Bentley has shown off a similar detail on concept cars such as the EXP 12 (pictured below). Since the image is closely focused on the emblem, it is difficult to tell which Bentley model this special edition car will be based on.
Our first guess would be the Continental GT, though a special edition Bentayga could be possible as well. Since this special edition will be inspired by a race car, it would make sense to base it off of the Continental GT, the company's sportiest model.
We have recently , which will improve upon the current car's 626- horsepower twin-turbo W12. Bentley has already , so Geneva could be the perfect place to reveal the all-new Continental GT Speed. We'll have to wait a few weeks to be sure but we hope this turns out to be the GT Speed and not just a special edition model with a unique exterior and interior.
