Aston Martin Ruled The Supercars At The 2016 Goodwood FOS

Goodwood Festival of Speed

The Vulcan, DB11, GT12 Roadster, Vantage GT8 and more were all in action over the weekend.

It was obvious from the moment we went down into the supercar paddock: Aston Martin was not messing about at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed. The British carmaker , gave the Aston DB11 its dynamic debut, showcased , V12 Vantage S and V8 Vantage GTE fresh from Le Mans, and wowed the crowds with the inimitable Vulcan that won the inaugural Showstopper of the Festival award.

Aston Martin kindly invited us to experience the Vantage GT8, the lightest, most powerful V8 Vantage ever made, riding shotgun with a pro racing driver behind the wheel. With race-bred aerodynamics, extreme carbon fiber body work, and a razor-sharp chassis setup, the GT8 made short work of the hill. After a few hours we could see how all 150 units sold out so fast. A 4.7-liter V8 delivers 440 hp and 361 lb-ft of torque and 0-60 mph comes in 4.4 seconds. Top speed is 190 mph. A six-speed manual powered the rear wheels in our car but a seven-speed auto with paddle shifters is also on offer. Carbon fiber is all over the body, while the interior is swathed in leather, Alcantara and carbon fiber trim, making it a truly special place to be.
