We get an up-close look at the revised XE at the New York Show.
The Jaguar XE originally went on sale back in 2016, and with the arrival of fresh competition over the years like the Genesis G70, Volvo S60, and the all-new G20 BMW 3 Series, the XE was due for a facelift. Initially in February, Jaguar used the 2019 New York Auto Show to make , and with fresh sheetmetal inspired by the F-Type, the sports sedan was looking sharp under the show floor lights. The XE features revised bumpers and a slightly updated grille, along with thinner and sleeker headlights and taillights, giving the XE a more chiseled, smooth look compared to the original design.
The biggest changes came inside, where the interior was given an overhaul and goodies from the all-electric I-Pace. A fresh door design and more widespread use of soft-touch materials lend the XE’s interior a more upscale feel, while also increasing comfort and usability. The biggest news is the addition of an optional dual touchscreen with the InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, related to the version found in the futuristic I-Pace.
Under the hood, the XE packs a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, which churns out a solid 296 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque in the R-Dynamic S trim. The base trim still produces a respectable 247 hp. Prices will start at $39,900 when the 2020 XE lands in the US this summer, and while the bones may be getting old, hopefully the XE’s new elegance face can keep it going strong.
