This Challenger has been possessed by a Demon.

Dodge has been busy lately, revealing the refreshed 2019 Charger and Challenger lineups on the same day. The 2019 Charger Hellcat benefits from some features borrowed from the Demon, but the 2019 Challenger Hellcat sees an even bigger change. In a bit of clever word play, Dodge says the Challenger Hellcat has been "possessed" by the Demon, with a new variant called the SRT Hellcat Redeye. What is the biggest sign that someone has been possessed by a Demon? Red eyes of course. Even the Hellcat logo now has a red eye.

The standard Hellcat will return, as will the rest of the Challenger variants: SXT, SXT AWD, GT, GT AWD, R/T, R/T Scat Pack, SRT Hellcat, and new SRT Hellcat Redeye. The big story is that new SRT Hellcat Redeye version, which features the most powerful production V8 in the world (now that the ).

The Redeye features the same 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8, now producing 797 hp and 707 lb-ft of torque. Dodge says this new Hellcat is the quickest production muscle car with a 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds. It is also the fastest GT car in the world with a top speed of 203 mph, and a quarter-mile time of 10.3 seconds at 131 mph. Like the Demon, the Redeye features 25 major component upgrades in its engine to produce that extra grunt. Some of these improvements include: a larger supercharger, strengthened connecting rods and pistons, high-speed valve train, fuel injection system, and improved lubrication system.

Compared to a standard Hellcat, the Redeye features the largest factory supercharger of any production car (2.7-liters versus 2.4), increased boost (14.5 psi versus 11.6), a higher rpm limit (6,500 rpm versus 6,200), and a dual-stage fuel pump. Dodge says at full tilt, the Redeye will drain its tank in under 11 minutes, but can achieve 22-mpg under normal highway conditions. Even the standard Hellcat will receive a bump in power, now producing 717 hp and 656 lb-ft. of torque. As we , the Challenger Hellcat models will receive a dual-snorkel grille, harkening back to Dodge muscle cars from the 1970s.

The R/T Scat Pack will also receive the optional Widebody kit from the Hellcat, which adds 3.5 inches to the overall width and improves the handling. The Widebody car rides on 305/35ZR20 Pirelli tires mounted to 20 x 11-inch forged “Devil’s Rim” aluminum wheels. Dodge says this equates to a two second lap time advantage on a 2.1-mile road course.
