Someone Finally Bought Tupac's 1996 Hummer

Earlier this month we learned that slain rapper Tupac Shakur’s 1996 Hummer H1 was going up for auction again, a year after it first hit the block. , but the transaction wasn't completed because the . So RR Auction, as first reported, tried its luck again this year, hoping for the Hummer to fetch at least $100,000. Fortunately, it went for quite a bit more. The latest winning bid, a solid $206,531, bid came from a Baltimore-based businessman whose identity will remain anonymous.

That figure is actually pretty good, all things considered, and hopefully this new buyer won’t default. It’s be a real shame if they did because the Hummer is a real piece of history. It was the final vehicle Shakur bought, less than a month before he was shot and killed in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 13, 1996. Shakur also tricked it out with several modifications, including a 360-degree spotlight, off-road lights, diamond-plate bumpers, off-road wheels and a 12-disc CD players (it was the 90s, remember?). Power comes courtesy of a 6.5-liter diesel V8 with 195 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. There’s only 10,101 miles on the odometer. Assuming the sale goes through, its new owner will likely see its value appreciate over the years.
