Why Is It So Easy For The BMW M2 To Waste To An Alfa Romeo Giulia QV?

Looks like Alfa Romeo may have some trouble on its hands.
It took a DriveTribe Fast Lap Shootout hosted by Jethro Bovingdon to convince us that maybe the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio wasn’t as unique or special as we initially thought. It did take BMW a single do-over attempt by means of a Competition Package to beat the Alfa, but the German carmaker still proved that it holds the lead in the area that counts most to hardcore track addicts: lap times. In this area, the M3 puts out, but it’s not the only BMW to do so.
When the M2 was initially released, it gave many enthusiasts pause for a good reason. That’s because BMW had made the M2 so good that it was bound to steal sales from the bigger and more expensive M4. Further testing concluded that while the M2 comes close, it doesn’t quite outdo its larger sibling.

But what about the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio? As embarrassingly points out, the M2 has already beat the four-door Italian hot rod at its home circuit of Anglesey. During a Fast Lap Shootout segment, which is nothing more than a short clip of the car in question being lapped at Anglesey as quickly as possible, the Alfa Romeo turned a time of 1:41.5 minutes, besting the Acura NSX and Mercedes-AMG C63 S. The little Bimmer, on the other hand, did better than that. After crossing the finish line, the M2 managed a time of 1:40.68 minutes. So yes, it beats the Alfa by a wide enough margin to make us wonder what the heck the Quadrifoglio is doing with its 140 extra horsepower.

To the Alfa's merit, the M2 also beats a few other high-powered cars like the Aston Martin V12 Vantage S (which has 563 horsepower) and the Jaguar F-Type SVR (575 horsepower). It seems BMW is still doing what it does best.
