Introducing the Bollinger B1. Pure off-roader. Pure EV.
As we enter an era of electrified supercars and hypercars, not to mention conventional cars and trucks, the question of whether or not off-road SUVs can be fitted with such electric motors has been asked. And now there’s an answer. Meet the Bollinger Motors B1, the world’s first all-electric off-roader. Going over its specs here, this thing looks very promising for even the most ardent off-roaders. Built on a lightweight aluminum chassis, the B1 is described as a "no-nonsense back-to-basics all-electric sport utility truck."
To us, its design looks a like a cross of sorts between the H1 Hummer and the classic Ford Bronco. Its body is painted in a special "Gunhouse" Grey with black accents and a black satin wheel finish. We love the classic and timeless 3-box design, which has an overall length of 150 inches, 76.5 inches wide, and a height of 73.5 inches.

Just as impressive, the B1 has a perfect 50/50 weight balance front to back and side to side. This is partially achieved due to its dual-motor powertrain, which also provides full-time all-wheel drive. Power comes courtesy of a lithium ion battery pack, available with either 60 or 100 kWh, resulting in 120 miles or 200 miles of range, respectively. Charging takes a total of 45 minutes thanks to its Level 3 "DC Fast" charge. Total output is 360 hp and 472 lb-ft of instant torque. Performance is also great, going from 0-60 mph in only 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 127 mph. Total weight (remember, the batteries) comes to 3,900 lbs, thus giving it a 10.8 power to weight ratio. Total payload capacity is 6,100 lbs and gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) is 10,001 lbs.

And because this is a serious off-roader, the battery compartments are encased in four layers of protection consisting of metal casings and water tight seals. Bollinger estimates these batteries can be submerged under 3.3 feet of water for 30 minutes with no problems. The interior, which can be completely hosed down, continues with the exterior’s military-like and simple design, but there are black leather seats. Four people can fit within the steel passenger safety cage. Bollinger is currently taking customer pre-orders, which requires a $1,000 deposit. However, any indicator of pricing wasn’t given, but Bollinger is now looking for a third party company to actually build the B1, which will hopefully go on sale before 2020.
