This rare left-hand drive version of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Oscar India could fetch around $300,000.
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’re probably aware of the all-new Aston Martin Vantage. Featuring an achingly beautiful body, an AMG-sourced V8 producing 503 horsepower, and a top speed of 195 mph, it’s the next best thing to a production DB10. Long before the Vantage was re-introduced to Aston Martin’s line-up in 2005, the British automaker built a limited run of V8 Vantages dubbed the ‘Oscar India.’ First introduced in 1980, the V8 Vantage Oscar India packed a more powerful version of the standard model's V8.

Power output increased from 375 hp in the standard V8 Vantage to 390 hp in the Oscar India version. A few hundred examples were built, but only 41 were converted to left-hand drive for the US - and now one of them is heading to auction. This 1983 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Oscar India will be going under the hammer at RM and is one of the best and most desirable examples you’re ever likely to find. It’s fitted with larger tires, wheels and arches introduced for the 1983 model and is equipped with a rare manual transmission. This example has had the same owner since 2007 and has been pampered with three stages of extensive restoration work.

Completed by Aston Martin Bordeaux, the first stage focused on the mechanical restoration, which added a new clutch, shock absorbers, steering rack and five new tires. In total, the first stage restoration work amounted to 40,000 Euros ($47,402). Aston Martin Bordeaux then focused on the paintwork at a cost of 35,000 Euros ($41,478) in 2011 before, further restoration costing an excess of 77,000 Euros ($91,253). The body was completely taken apart and repaired before being primed and painted in white. It was also fitted with all new glass and window seals, and the interior was re-trimmed in 30 square meters of immaculate white leather.

This year it also received a tune-up by Aston Martin Heritage at a cost of 37,000 Euros ($43,849) to ensure that it’s in working order. In the last 10 years, a whopping 188,000 Euros ($222,701) has been spent restoring the vintage V8 Vantage to shiny showroom condition. Given that this is a pristine example of a rare and desirable V8 Vantage Oscar India, you can guarantee it won’t be cheap. RM Sotheby’s estimates it will sell for between 225,000 and 250,000 Euros ($267,700 to $297,000), which isn’t astronomical when you consider that’s about the same as a well-equipped DB11.
