The M4 CS now has a four-door counterpart.
The range-topping BMW M4 GTS is as awesome as it is rare with only 750 units produced. Beneath that lies the BMW M4 CS, which arrived to satiate demand for a more hardcore M model. At its debut in Shanghai, BMW told us we should expect more CS models to join the range. True to its word, the company has just revealed the latest addition to its slightly sportier line of M cars, the 2018 BMW M3 CS. Powered by the same 460-hp twin-turbo inline-six engine as the M4 CS, the car sits above both the base M3 and M3 Competition Pack.

Torque has also been increased to 443 lb-ft, which is a nice bump over the standard car's 406 lb-ft. This power is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Unfortunately, the M3 CS is not available with a manual transmission. The CS will hit 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, which is quicker than the Competition Package and the standard car at 3.8 and 3.9 seconds respectively. BMW says that the CS will hit a top speed of 174 mph and everyone who buys one will receive a one-day driving class at one of BMW's US driving centers. Many of the enhancements to the CS were created via software changes to the chassis.

BMW has made changes to the adaptive suspension, power steering, active M differential, and stability control system. The exhaust is also tuned to produce an especially aggressive sound compared to lesser M3 models. The CS is also lighter thanks to a carbon fiber hood, roof, front and rear spoiler, and a rear diffuser borrowed from the M4 GTS. BMW will also offer optional carbon ceramic brakes. The M3 CS will ride on Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires that are 265/35ZR-19 up front and 285/30ZR-20 in the rear. The matte grey wheels are said to be inspired by DTM race cars. Inside, BMW has adorned the CS with some unique touches that are befitting of a limited edition car.

The CS comes standard with sport seats from the Competition Package, navigation, and a Harman Kardon audio system. The merino-leather interior comes in an exclusive gray and black combination and CS owners will start their car with a unique, red starter button. The cabin trim is wrapped in microsuede, which covers the steering wheel, center console and hand brake. The interior also features plenty of CS badging and M striping. BMW only plans to build 1,200 units of the M3 CS, and the US will receive 550 of them. Pricing has not been announced, but don't expect this limited edition model to come cheap.
