A few hairdressers' dreams have been dashed.
No big announcement was made, likely because few would care all that much. That’s because not enough US customers bought the three-door Range Rover Evoque. The UK-based automaker has just clarified that the three-door Evoque has been discontinued for the 2018 model year in the US only, nearly seven years after first going on sale. The Evoque five-door and convertible aren’t going anywhere, for this year at least. In fact, it’s the convertible variant we’re surprised is managing to make money.

The convertible even outsold the three-door over the past couple of years. In the meantime, the 2018 Evoque five-door and convertible receive a number of upgrades to keep things fresh until the next generation arrives. For starters, Land Rover has ditched the previously sourced Ford 2.0-liter turbo four in favor of its own turbo four, courtesy of the Jaguar F-Type, XE, XF and Range Rover Velar. This new engine is more powerful and more fuel efficient than its predecessor, and it will carry over to the upcoming redesigned model as well. A nine-speed automatic and all-wheel drive is standard on all 2018 models.

The five-door Evoque will also see the new Landmark Edition featuring a grey roof, exterior accent upgrades, 19-inch wheels, and black leather seats. If all goes to plan, the next-generation Evoque, which we've spotted numerous times thanks to our spy photographers, will arrive for the 2019 model year.
