A special M Performance sports exhaust will be exclusive to the US and Canada.
Considering how much power it packs, the new F90 BMW M5 looks somewhat subdued. Granted, it looks noticeably more aggressive than its predecessors, but you still wouldn’t expect a car with the looks of a luxury sedan to pack 600 horsepower under the hood. It’s this recipe of understated looks and unprecedented performance that make the M5 so appealing. If, however, you want to spice up the 2018 BMW M5’s looks to match its mind-blowing performance, the Bavarian automaker’s M Performance Parts division has a solution.

We recently got a preview of the F90 BMW M5 with M Performance Parts slapped on it when the new MotoGP M5 safety car was revealed. Debuting at the SEMA show, the Bavarian automaker has given the performance sedan a sporty makeover with numerous M Performance add-ons that make the E90 M5 look even more aggressive. While most of the cosmetic upgrades give the super sedan some extra sparkle, some also provide aerodynamic enhancements that further improve the performance. The M Performance Parts include a new front splitter, side sill attachments, rear spoiler, and a rear diffuser, all of which are made from carbon fiber to improve the car’s aerodynamics.

Complementing these parts are carbon fiber M Performance wing mirror caps and kidney grilles. Also available is a manually-adjustable M Performance coilover setup that gives the M5 a stiffer setup than the standard car to increase performance and improve the car’s handling dynamics. It’s a useful addition, allowing you to manually adjust the car for the road or track. The coil springs are also painted in red, adding to the car’s sporty appearance. As if we weren’t already spoiled with the M3 American Edition celebrating its 30th anniversary in the US, BMW is also offering an M Performance sports exhaust with titanium rear muffler and carbon fiber tailpipe trims exclusively in the US and Canada.

This not only makes the M5’s 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 sound even more aggressive, but also reduces counter-pressure to improve the performance. Inside, the M5’s cabin looks racier thanks to a new carbon fiber M Performance steering wheel and paddle shifters which also feature in the M5 MotoGP Safety Car. It also sports a motorsport-derived M Performance Drive Analyzer that records and analyzes important vehicle dynamics data and sends this information directly to the driver’s smartphone.
