With a claimed top speed of 217 mph, you're getting supercar performance in a car that weighs 2.8 tons.
Mercedes unveiled the facelifted S-Class this year, so it was naturally only a matter of time before German tuner Brabus got its hands on it. Based on the ultra-luxurious Mercedes-Maybach S650 sedan, the German tuner’s latest upgrade kit extracts 900 horsepower from its V12 and 1,106 lb-ft of torque resulting in a top speed of over 217 mph. As with most Brabus-tuned cars, it’s not just the performance that’s been upgraded, as the tuner has also added a host of aero-enhancing components, custom wheels, and a sumptuous leather interior.

To achieve this performance, displacement has been increased from 6.0 to 6.3 liters, and the turbos have been replaced with turbochargers with larger compressor units and turbines, adapted to the V12 with the help of special exhaust manifolds. The conversion also includes downpipes with a diameter of 80 mm, free-flow metal catalysts and a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with actively controlled exhaust flaps. To optimize the air supply, the modified Maybach includes a carbon intake module that draws air through a duct in the hood from the redesigned grille. Injection, boost pressure control and ignition have all been calibrated accordingly.

Despite weighing over 2.8 tons, the Brabus-tuned Maybach S650 delivers supercar performance, with a 0-62 mph time of just 3.7 seconds and a top speed exceeding 217 mph. To demonstrate the monstrous performance of the Brabus 900 engine, an event was recently held by German car magazine Auto Bild Sportscars pitting tuned supercars against each other in an acceleration test. Brabus entered the Rocket 900 based on the Mercedes S65 which, despite being the heaviest car, reached 211.4 mph in just 1.86 miles. Brabus has also announced a performance upgrade package for the Mercedes-Benz S63 4MATIC facelift.

This tuning package increases the output of its turbocharged V8 engine to 700 hp and 701 lb-ft of torque, allowing the luxury sedan to sprint from 0-62 mph in just 3.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 186 mph. This was achieved by rewriting the software for the engine management system, which includes revised injection and ignition maps, and a recalibration of the electronic boost pressure control. An even higher top speed will soon be possible thanks to a Brabus Vmax module that’s currently in development. Both cars have been given sporty makeovers with new aerodynamic components that were tested in a wind tunnel including a new front spoiler lip, naked-carbon front fenders, front bumper, and rear spoiler.

A new rear bumper also features an integrated naked-carbon diffuser and cutouts for the sport exhaust. The h cabin of the Brabus S63 features black Mastik leather matching the exterior finish with grey and red stitching, and carbon fiber elements, as well as aluminium components including new paddle shifters, pedals and door pins and ambient lighting. The modified Maybach features a custom interior with upholstery that can be customized in a wide variety of leathers and Alcantara in any color and layout, as well as wood or carbon inlays available in different colors and surface finishes. The speedometer has also been changed to reflect the performance of the tuned 6.3-liter V12 twin-turbo engine.
