Could these new accessories soon be up for sale? Hopefully.
The Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 program has been a huge hit. Debuting at SEMA in Las Vegas is a pair of ZR2 mid-size trucks, the AEV Concept and Race Development Truck. Both are intended to further demonstrate the ZR2’s off-road capabilities. The ZR2 AEV concept, created in collaboration with American Expedition Vehicles, is powered by the 2.8-liter Duramax turbo diesel but adds front and rear jounce shocks, plunging front half-shafts, high-angle upper ball joints, increased stiffness high-angle rods, and upgraded shocks.
Other features include AEV front and rear bumpers, complete underbody skid protection, expanded bed rack, and high clearance fender flares and high-rise snorkel. The truck wears a set of 35-inch mud tires and even has front and rear LED auxiliary lighting.

The ZR2 Race Development Truck, powered by the 3.6-liter V6, enhances desert-running capabilities. It features a long-travel version of the stock truck’s DSSV shocks that have now been tuned for high-speed off-road use. Other enhancements include a 1.5-inch body lift, 33-inch tires, rear shock skidplates, a steel driveshaft, and an off-road air-intake and performance exhaust. Coincidentally, Chevrolet is also marking this Colorado generation’s three year anniversary, with 250,000 examples sold. A pair of ZR2s like these is the ideal way to celebrate.
