There's a catch though - it costs twice the price of a production Urus.
We’ve known about Lamborghini’s plans to infiltrate the SUV market to become more profitable for several years now. The Urus was first introduced at the Bejing Motor Show as a concept way back in 2012. Fast forward five years, and the production model’s world debut is penned for December 4, where the SUV will be revealed during an event held at the automaker’s Sant’ Agata Bolognese facility. Lamborghini not only has high hopes for the Urus to be a sales success, but also to set a new performance benchmark for SUVs at the Nurburgring.

But this isn’t the first time Lamborghini made an SUV – that would be the LM002 that launched way back in 1986. Lamborghini is planning to produce around 1,000 units of the Urus every year, each costing around $200,000. In contrast, only 301 LM002s were built between 1986 and 1993 – and one of them is looking for a new owner. Currently listed for sale by Cats Exotic is a rare 1990 Lamborghini LM002 finished in gloss black over a black interior that’s one of only 48 that were sent to the US. Powered by the Diablo's V12, this LM002 only has 11,893 miles on the odometer, and is in pristine condition thanks to a five-year mechanical and cosmetic restoration costing over $325,000.

“No nut or bolt was left untouched, from the Diablo V12 motor to the new interior” according to the listing. In addition to the comprehensive restoration, the LM002 comes with a new rear cargo tool box, new exhaust system, and new Pirelli Scorpion tires along with a sand lip rear mounted spare. An Alpine stereo unit with Bluetooth connectivity has been fitted, and it still has original Lamborghini floor mats. Unsurprisingly, the LM002’s rarity and restoration commands a hefty asking price - at $440,000, it costs more than double the price of the production Urus. That probably explains why it hasn’t attracted a buyer since it was listed for sale over a year ago. Any takers?
