Seriously, it’s just a movie guys.
Fast & Furious fans will no doubt have been disappointed when it was announced that the ninth installment has been delayed by a year until 2020 having been originally slated for release in 2019. Fear not though, because you’ll still be able to get your Fast & Furious fix that year when the surprise spin-off starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw is released on July 26 2019. Their pairing brought a lot of comic relief to Fate of the Furious.

However, one member of the Fast & Furious family isn’t too happy that the production of the spin-off has delayed the release of Fast & Furious 9 and made their feelings very clear on social media. We’ve been here before, of course. Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson famously didn’t get on during the filming of Fate of the Furious – it’s no coincidence that neither actor shares a single frame in the film. The delay of Fast & Furious 9 has now sparked another feud within the Fast & Furious family, this time between Tyrese Gibson, who plays Roman Pearce, and Dwayne Johnson. Gibson was quick to blame Johnson for Fast & Furious 9’s delay.

"#PSA Congratulations to @TheRock and your brother in law aka 7 bucks producing partner @hhgarcia41 [Hiram Garcia] for making the fast and the furious franchise about YOU," the actor recently wrote on . “Gn folks see you in 2020 April #FastFamily right? Nah..... it's about #TeamDewayne #3yrs will it be worth the wait? #NoShaw just Hobbs will this be another #BayWatch?” His comments were brought up in an interview with , where Gibson insists that he’s not “hating” on Johnson, but still thinks he’s “selfish” for prioritizing the spin-off instead of Fast & Furious 9. "Yeah, congrats to him. I don't know what they're doing,” he said when asked what he thought of the spin-off.

"Everybody comin' at me like I'm hating on Dwayne about this spin-off, I'm not. The truth is, I just wish he was releasing it at a different time," referring to the fact that the only time a Fast & Furious movie has been delayed was after Paul Walker’s death. “I just got a problem with Dwayne: it appears he’s being selfish. It appears that he’s so focused on furthering his own self-interest, he’s making decisions from the seat he’s sitting on. Fast & Furious 9 is not coming out until 2020… it’s fucked up.” Thing is, Gibson arguably has Johnson to thank for helping the series get back on track at a time when the series' popularity was declining.

Johnson's character Agent Hobbs has been hugely popular with fans since he was introduced in Fast Five, which was when the franchise really gained traction into the global box office success it is today.
