Here's what a radical McLaren hypercar could look like in the year 2032.
Right now, the P1 Ultimate Series represents McLaren’s halo hypercar forming part of the hypercar holy trinity alongside the Ferrari LaFerrari and Porsche 918 Spyder. All 375 models planned for production have long been sold out, but the P1 will eventually be replaced by an even more powerful hypercar. Aston Martin and Mercedes-AMG are gearing up to lead the next generation of hypercars powered by F1 technology with the Valkyrie and Project One.

Completing the line-up will be a mystery McLaren hypercar built as a successor to the P1, but aside from a few unrevealing teaser shots, we don’t know what it will look like. Enter California-based render artist Justin Hyunjung Cho, who has envisioned the McLaren halo hypercar of the future. Dubbed the McLaren Vision Ultimate concept (not to be confused with the McLaren Ultimate Vision GT), Cho’s design shows what a future McLaren hypercar could look like in the year 2032. It features a striking angular shape that makes it look futuristic, yet remains faithful to McLaren's design heritage. A massive diffuser dominates the front fascia along with a series of air vents and aerodynamic angles.

There’s no windshield either, which probably means this McLaren concept is fully autonomous. At the rear, the cabin merges seamlessly with the extended rear wing which protrudes over a centrally mounted LED brake light. The engine is mid-mounted, with three large vents mounted towards the rear. There’s no indication of the level of performance this hypercar would be capable of, but Cho says it would use a KERS hybrid system. McLaren has already outlined plans to build a P1 successor as part of its Track22 business plan. Codenamed the BP23 Hyper-GT, so far we know that McLaren’s next hypercar will be a hybrid and have a central driving position like the F1. Let’s hope it looks as radical as this.
