This thing looks like a beast.
Say hello to the Oshkosh Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV), the US Army and Marine Corps brand new tactical toy. This incredibly versatile armored vehicle is now the official replacement for the antiquated Army Humvee and was selected as the successor after a rigorous competition with other defense contractors such as Lockheed Martin and AM General. Oshkosh’s lucrative new contract with the Army will entail around $30 billion being spent on producing the tactical vehicles over the course of several decades.
The initial production run of the JLTV program will begin with 17,000 units being introduced in 2016. Although we don't have much information regarding the engineering behind the vehicle, it looks like it has some incredible capability in this demonstration video.
