Is Lotus' New Exige Sport 350 The Vehicle That Will Save The Automaker?

Industry News

The automaker's heading in the right direction.

Lotus has recently, but has finally got on track with a new CEO and new, sporty vehicles that promise to be better. Lotus' latest variant of the Exige is the Exige Sport 350 and is a successor to the Exige S. The Sport 350 isn’t as hardcore as the Lotus Exige Cup, but is lighter than the previous S model, which is a step in the right direction. Thanks to a new louvered tailgate panel, lightweight engine mounts, a lighter battery, a new center console and more, the sports car weighs in at roughly 2,400 lbs.

Under the hood, the car has the same supercharged 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 345 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque as the Exige S. Thanks to the extreme diet, the Exige Sport 350 can get to 62 mph in just 3.9 seconds and onto a top speed of 170 mph. To ensure that the sports car is great on the track, it has a revised suspension setup with firmer dampers. As a track-focused vehicle, the Exige Sport 350’s interior is bare. The sport seats can be finished in an available bright yellow Tartan trim pack with other options including air-conditioning, a multimedia system and more. The sports car will go on sale in Europe on February 2016 and will reach North America by March 2016, with pricing starting at roughly $85,000 in Europe.
