Rumor

Could the 2016 Cadillac SRX Really be Made in China?

Seems likely, with some 'buts' and 'maybes.'

Despitebeing quite the uninspiring vehicle, Cadillac's SRX crossover has actually become a great salessuccess for the company, both in the United States and in foreign markets.Above all, it has become a hit in China, where it makes up 40 percent of thecompany's sales and has enjoyed a 23 percent growth in 2014 over the previousmodel year. As such, it seems likely that General Motors will move –at least part of – the crossover's production to China.

While nothing has been officially decided yet, the Asian production could replace or run alongside the current North American factory in Mexico. Whether it is Chinese or Mexican, the next generation SRX is expected to debut in 2016, possibly underpinned by the Alpha platform from the ATS and CTS sedans.
