Porsche’s first ever all-electric car, the Taycan is a sleek and sexy four-door sedan with a four--one layout, space for luggage at the front and rear, and over 600 horsepower on tap. Rated at 270 watt-hours per kilogram, the Taycan will feature a lithium-ion battery pack denser than anything from Tesla. Drive will come courtesy of a pair of PSM (permanently excited synchronous) electric motors derived from the Le Mans winning Porsche 919 LMP1 car, enabling the Taycan to sprint from 0-62 mph in less than 3.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 155 mph. Porsche is aiming for a 310-mile range with the Taycan coupled with a charge time of just 15 minutes for 250 miles of range using a 800-volt system. Interior tech will be state-of-the-art with digital instrument displays and a pair of infotainment screens eliminating the need for physical buttons. The Taycan will launch in 2019 with AWD, followed by a more affordable RWD variant and a crossover.
